Due to various reasons and resource limitations, Transgender Resource Center (TGR), which has been operating at a reduced capacity since 2019, has decided to suspend operations starting from 2026. We sincerely ask for your understanding and forgiveness!
From 2008 to the present, TGR has worked tirelessly to serve the transgender community and to help society eliminate misunderstandings and fears regarding the LGBT community, bringing about significant changes in Hong Kong and Mainland China. In our early days, the organization was essentially a one-person volunteer team. In 2012, we began hiring full-time staff, growing to three full-time colleagues by 2016. During this period, we worked relentlessly to accomplish even more work, including developing the "Trans Across China" project in Mainland China. Unfortunately, our project applications were unsuccessful between 2015 and 2016. Because we couldn't let go of many meaningful initiatives, we missed numerous grant application and fundraising opportunities. Over these ten-plus years, we have helped countless transgender individuals, but very few were able to stay on as volunteers. Facing a shortage of manpower and resources, we had no choice but to make the painful decision to cut most of our projects starting in 2019.
After operating at a reduced capacity for seven years, and given that our Chairperson has been living outside Hong Kong for quite some time, fell ill with cancer, and still requires an extended period to rest and recover after two years of treatment, we have decided to suspend operations starting from 2026. Only our website and social media platforms will remain for limited interaction. Thank you all for your support over the years!
